The day Einstein feared

„I am afraid of the day when technology will replace human interactions. The world will have a generation of idiots „- said the brilliant Albert Einstein.

I notice this day by day! We all become addicted to technology.
The bottom line is that we are aware of this and we can’t give it up! Smartphones, smart watches, laptops, tablets, smart TVs have entered our lives and minds and we can no longer part with them.
Not to mention the smart traffic lights, the smart cars, which no longer need a driver, the refrigerators that notice what foods are running out and order them themselves from the Internet, the smart coffee makers, which are waiting for us in the morning with the coffee made…
Where will we end up in this style? Why is technology so important to us? Probably because we are surrounded by her at every turn!
We always use technology, which is in all the trivial things in our lives – from the TV remote control to the microwave to the objects we consider truly technological: mobile phones, laptops, smart watches, etc. All have the role of making our lives easier and more convenient, so technology gets to control our lives.
In this way, we should not be surprised that we become addicted to technology. The ease with which we perform tasks, the time saved, the simplicity, the accessibility, the lightness, all these are addictive, all these make technology a drug!
Technology itself is not addictive; it’s not the chips, the video cards, the LEDs or the processors that are addictive! Intelligence is addictive!
We are always busy and always as far away from ourselves and our own spiritual needs as possible. We forget that we need time to dream, to love, and to feed our souls.
We don’t have time for each other, because the dependence on social networks, on games, phone checks, likes, comments steals our time we could spend with our loved ones. It has become so common that we wake up unconscious with our smartphone in hand.

Social networks aim to bring people together, but they manage to keep us away from each other. They do not improve our social skills, but they isolate us.

After that, we end up saying that somewhere, something, someone stole our time. Isn’t that weird?

Since smartphones took over millions of people, inter-human relations have suffered. Although they sit around the same table, friends prefer to push their phones, instead of socializing with those around them. This generation was described by Albert Einstein as „a generation of idiots”!

And the situation is not rosy at all. Teachers complain about the declining level of students, the subjects studied are reduced, the assessment scales have been lowered intentionally, employers complain about the lack of general culture… The new generation does not even know how to write correctly in Romanian!

What happened to the man? Did it sink virtually?

Can we get better? Or will we overtake technology in intelligence?
